Author Guidelines

SLEMA Journal is dedicated to energy sector professionals of Sri Lanka. Published twice a year since 1984, the SLEMA Journal carries research papers, articles, reviews and news about the status and new developments in the energy sector of Sri Lanka.

The journal is circulated free to over 500 members of SLEMA and is also available in libraries in universities and energy sector institutions.

Guide to Authors
SLEMA welcomes submissions by authors from Sri Lanka or abroad, to be published in the Journal.

Coverage: You may submit papers to the Editor, SLEMA Journal at any time for consideration for publication. There is no specific deadline. Papers should cover one or more of the following areas of focus:

• Energy Policy
• Energy economics
• Energy efficiency, demand management and conservation
• Renewable energy development
• Rural energy and social dimensions
• Training on energy and related subjects
• Energy measuring instruments
• Energy auditing
• Worldwide trends in energy sector development
• Energy sector management

Paper Format and Style
Papers should be written in a style and language suitable for a professional publication. They should consist of an abstract, introduction, followed by the body of the paper. Conclusions should be clearly stated, after which acknowledgements and references should be listed.

Page size should be A4 (297 mm x 210 mm) size.

Margins Top/Bottom should be 0.95”.

The Title should be 12 pt Bold and should fit within two lines.
Authors names should be 10 Point bold, Designation should be Italic.

Line spacing must be single, before/ after 0 pt Font Type: Book Antiqua

Sub-heading: 10pt, bold (Should capitalize each word) Paragraph text: 10pt

Text for Table: 10pt Text for Figures: 10pt

Entire paper should be on two columns. Please use 10 pt Book Antiqua, or a similar font, and adhere to the style of the articles found in the journal.

SI units should be used throughout, with the standard abbreviations. Papers should be prepared on MS Word. All graphs, diagrams and photographs should be available in soft copy form and embedded in the paper at a place close to where they are referred to in the text. All figures, diagrams and photographs should be referred to in the text of the paper. References to individuals, institutions and brand names should be minimised. Extracts from other publications should be acknowledged.

Please try to keep within a length of eight A4 sides, including drawings and photographs.

Please submit the paper as both PDF and Word documents. A hard copy must also be sent, showing clear photographs and drawings correctly aligned to:

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

1. The submission has not been previously published, in part or in whole, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
2. All third-party-owned materials used have been identified with appropriate credit lines, and permission has been obtained from the copyright holder for all formats of the journal. Authors acknowledge their responsibility to gain all permissions prior to submission.
3. All authors qualify as authors, as defined in the authorship guidelines, and have given permission to be listed on the submitted paper.
4. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines. Every effort has been made to ensure that the submission is ready for peer review according to the journal's review policy (following the instructions to ensure blind peer review).
5. Tables are all cited in the main text and are included within the text document.
6. Figures are all cited in the main text and are uploaded as supplementary files. Figures/images have a resolution of at least 150dpi (300dpi or above preferred). The files are in one of the following formats: JPG, TIFF, GIF, PNG, EPS (to maximise quality, the original source file is preferred).
7. All patients included within case reports or other article types in which an individual or a group of individuals can be identified have signed informed consent forms, or had had their legal guardian do so, giving permission to publish the submitted content under a CC-BY licence.
8. Research has been approved by an appropriate ethics committee, with the name of the committee and reference number of approval included within the submitted file. Otherwise, a statement that ethics approval was not required has been added to the file.
9. The corresponding author is submitting an ORCID identifier in their author data and co-authors have been recommended to also provide an ORCID, as per the journal policy.
